Specialist LINK Updates – Chronic Pain
July 4, 2017
The Health Systems Support team is pleased to welcome the Chronic Pain advice line under the Specialist LINK call service umbrella as of July 17, 2017.
The Chronic Pain Consult Service (CPCS) joins Endocrinology, Gastroenterology, Hepatology, Neurology, Rheumatology and Respirology specialists available to provide real-time advice for your patient treatment plans. These specialists along with the CPCS Nurse Practitioners can now be reached through one number. One call does it all.
The Chronic Pain telephone advice is available Monday to Friday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Billing is not available for Chronic Pain, but is eligible for specialist service calls. See our frequently asked questions.
The Nurse Practitioner led CPCS works in hospital and at the Chronic Pain Centre (CPC) to provide multi-modal pain management suggestions for patients who have a history of chronic non-cancer pain.
Since launching in late 2014, Specialist LINK has received almost 2,000 calls. Surveys and measurement analysis indicates that this service continues to help in four key categories by increasing patient satisfaction, avoiding unnecessary consultations, referrals or ER visits and creating systemic cost-savings.
