Rectal bleeding, iron deficiency anemia pathways
May 6, 2021
CALGARY -- New care pathways and processes are available in the Calgary Zone for patients with high-risk rectal bleeding and high-risk iron deficiency anemia.
Care pathways are now available on specialistlink.ca that were developed to assist family physicians to identify patients at high risk of cancer and expedite triage and investigation.
It is hoped that a new centralized gastroenterology referral service, which is available starting Monday, May 10, will ultimately increase early detection and reduce the number of cancers diagnosed on hospital admission. The following resources are available:
- High Risk Iron Deficiency Anemia Pathway: Central access and triage guide | Care pathway | Referral checklist
