About the Access Mental Health Resource Database

For more information about the resource database, please see below, watch our Access Mental Health Resource Database video or download the detailed user guide:

  • What is the resource database for?

The database is a resource guide, maintained by Access Mental Health, that aims to provide an up-to-date list of available services for assessment, treatment and mental health support within the Calgary Zone.

  • What resources are included in the database?

Not-for-profit or Alberta Health-funded resources in the Calgary Zone. They are free or sliding scale. Private therapists are NOT listed. The database includes about 250 AHS resources and about 650 non-AHS or community resources.

  • How do I get started?

Start by choosing how you want to search. Options include:

    • Age group (of patient)

    • Key words (select from a drop-down menu)

    • Alphabetical (search by first letter)

    • Level of care (basic and 1-6) AHS only

    • Diagnosis (options include DSM)

    • Service types (e.g., group therapy, day programs)

    • Search text (enter any text)

If you know which organization or resource you are looking for, you can enter the name or details in the second set of boxes to search for that listing.

  • What are your top tips for using the database?

  • How do you look for resources in communities outside Calgary?

Type location name into the 'City' box to find resources in that location, town or area. The database includes locations in the Calgary Zone, meaning Calgary and area. It does not include out of Zone resources.

  • How do I clear my search terms or start over?

Click the reset button to start over.

  • How do I change the view so there are less columns or information?

Click on the blue button to specify which fields you want to be listed.

  • Once I've found a resource I'm interested in, what do I do?

Click on the pencil icon to reveal the full listing.

Click on the PDF icon to display information or resources in that format.

Click on the Word icon to download a Word document.

  • Does the database work on all computers or mobile devices?

The database should work on most modern browsers, including Chrome, Firefox, Safari and Edge. However, it is not optimized for mobile and we recommend using a tablet or desktop computer in order to be able to toggle and edit the fields.
