What can I enquire about?

  • Antidepressant choice with different medical comorbidities or symptom profile
  • Whether or not antipsychotics should be initiated for agitation or psychotic symptoms
  • Choice of antipsychotic (for example if prolonged QTc or other concerns)
  • Whether a patient would be appropriate for referral to certain resources (such as R and R unit at Glenmore Carewest, SAILL program) and how to access
  • Whether to start a cholinesterase inhibitor, recommended preliminary work-up for new onset hallucinations or cognitive changes later in life

The geriatric psychiatry line is not suitable for physicians’ seeking information about resources, or those who have patients that require face-to-face consultation.
